About the Exhibit:
Art without bounds – art within the artist. A diverse body of transparent watercolors capturing the beauty of local landscapes, intimate wildlife scenes and even figurative subjects. Wes Karchut’s work demonstrates, that while seldom appreciated, watercolors can be also be bold and graphic with a surprising depth of color.
About the artist:
I am a creative craftsman of watercolor. My work is largely shape driven with an emphasis on design, draftsmanship and clean color. With a background in commercial illustration, I can find the art in most any subject no matter how ordinary. And yes, I can paint a picture to match a couch.
I have been juried into many national shows including the Salmagundi Exhibition in New York, The Coos Art Museum in Seattle and The London Transport Museum in London, to mention a few. I have also studied with some of the finest landscape painters of realist, western landscape genre, including Clyde Aspevig, Michael Lynch and Kevin McPherson.
