About the Exhibit:

In Depth is a return to figures but does not completely abandon the flower. Rather, the two join forces to tackle some of the harder conversations -- lending each other color and strength.

About the Artist:

Nichole Montanez is a versatile artist living and working in Florence, CO. She received a BA in Fine Art from CSU, Pueblo then immediately went to work in journalism. Since then she has straddled the worlds of fact and fiction. Her most ambitious body of work was a documentary photo series on critically ill children and their fight to use cannabis to treat intractable epilepsy and other life-threatening illnesses. The project spanned nearly a decade. When it ended in 2020 she began painting again. Though the medium has changed, her work still speaks to the delicate, fleeting nature of life. She has explored flowers in recent years in an attempt to give visual representation to imagined spaces between this realm, the next and the very real, yet imperceptible, phases along the way.
