About the Exhibit:

Abstract painting is an outlet for me to express my thoughts and feelings while exploring the natural world. This body of work explores the expression of all things pertaining to atmosphere and light. Using sharp lines and bold colors, I create an abstraction of what can not only be captured visually, but also what is not seen and only felt while using my intuition to guide me. Each piece contains its own vibe and whimsical elements much like the beautiful timeless moment captured. Recalling and observing the way light reflects at different times of the day to capture what it felt to see a sunset, the moon, clouds, sunrises, afternoon skies, and light dancing across the ceiling and walls. I invite the viewer to take a moment to step out of logic and the mundane and  take a moment to sense the whimsical and notice the beauty that is created in the unpretentious but exquisite gestures given as a gift.

About the Artist:

Sarah Wright is an abstract artist focusing on crisp lines and bold colors to express her works. "My work is heavily influenced by my environment: nature, music, people, and places. I translate those influences and inspirations into abstract paintings full of color and shapes which become segmented much like a stained glass window. I grew up in Oklahoma and was influenced by the beautiful landscape and "big sky with colorful sunsets and dramatic scenes". I viewed that big sky scenery as an expansive ever-changing painting- that's how I knew I was meant to be an artist. I studied art at Randolph-Macon Woman’s College and I majored in Art Studio with an emphasis on painting. It was there that I jumped into abstract painting quickly as I felt drawn to the style and found it to be very adventurous. I now reside in colorful Colorado and the breathtaking landscape, beautiful terrain, and gorgeous sky continues to inspire me in addition to the autobiographical elements interlaced throughout my works." - Sarah Wright
